Thinking of You Challenge Card

This is for today's sketch challenge at Splitcoaststampers.com. I used my new Labels 9 Nesties for the image. The stamp is from the SU Feathered Friends set. I have had it for a while but have never used it. I used the Lemonade paper from Basic Grey as well as Baja Blue and Baroque Burgandy from SU. The flowers are Making Memories and the metal spacer is a bead cap that I flattened and cut a hole in with my Big Bite. I LOVE the Big Bite! It punches a hole in anything. The brads did not match my card so I dipped them in the Versamark pad and then in pearl embossing powder. After you heat the powder they look like they came that way.

Stamps: Feathered Friends
Paper: Basic Grey Lemonade, Baroque Burgandy, Baja Blue
Ink: Kiwi Kiss, Creamy Caramel, Really Rust, Baja Blue, So Saffron, Rose Romance, Baroque Burgandy, Yoyo Yellow, Chocolate Chip, Old Olive, Versamark
Accessories: Nesties, Brads, EP, MM flowers, bead caps, ribbon, dimensionals

Stamps: Haute Couture
Paper: Basic Grey Porcelain, Chocolate chip, vanilla
Ink: Brown Stazon
Accessories: ribbon, dimensionals, nesties, computer font Society

Basic Grey Challenge Sweet Cherry Card

This card is for the bi-monthly Basic Grey Challenge. I love the new Lemonade paper by Basic Grey. I thought it would go great with fruit or other country looking images. I used a dabber to sponge the background of the cherries after I cut it with a Nestabilities die. The little pink flower is hand crocheted and the silver metal embellishment on top is a flattened bead cap. Underneath there is a small Prima flower and a MM rhinestone brad holds it together. The tag is a Cuttlebug die.

Pink Chocolate Unity Card

After

Before

Does anyone else tear they cards apart several times before they are done? This week it seems like I am doing that for every card I make. I changed the background paper for this card and it made a big difference. This is the first time I have used the Flying Beauties by Nestabilities. I am not sure how to use them as a stencil. I sponged glue on the velum while the die was still on and then sprinkled glitter on.

Twinkling H2Os Scripture Card

This was made for several challenges at SCS. I love using the H2Os. I am so sad they are going OOB since I just discovered how much I like using them. Baby Boy Card

I made this card for my son's Youth Pastor and his wife for their shower. I used the Nestabilities die for a stencil and sponged around the edge. I also used dimensionals to give the card some depth. These may be my 2 new favorite techniques or embellishments. I am fickle though. I will have a new favorite soon :-)

Stamps: Brides and Babies
Paper: Baby print dp, Sage Shadow, Bashful Blue, Barely Banana
Ink: Bashful Blue, Barely Banana, Blush Blossom, Black
Accessories: Dimensionals, Nestabilities, rickrack, thread

Sticker Challenge Birthday Card

For this challenge at SCS you were supposed to use a sticker. The large shoe is a sticker I got for scrapbooking. The sentiment is computer generated so there are actually no stamps used on this card. The dp is Basic Gray Scarlet's Letter and Bo Bunny. The black rhinestones are by Kaiser. I used the SU Top Note die and Nestabilities. The shoe is mounted to cardstock and then dimensionals. The sentiment was from an old postcard to match the shoe.

Me & Carrie Lou Sweet Peas Card

I bought this stamp in a lot. It is by Me and Carrie Lou. It turns out they are sold in Florida at Violette's. They have some wonderful floral stamps. This card was for the sketch challenge on Wednesday. I love Basic Grey and got to use some scraps from Lily Kate to make this card. What a great idea. No waste! I used a Fiskars lace punch for the corners and a computer sentiment. I also used some organdy white ribbon. SU cardstock is ballet blue and kiwi kiss.

Monday, March 16, 2009

Twinkling H20s Butterfly Card

This is my first time trying the H2Os. I noticed Luminarte is going OOB so I wanted to try the colors I have to see if I should get more. I made this and another card. On the other card I used them like regular watercolors instead of stamping with them. The sheen is amazing. I did touch up the edge of the image for this card with a brush to make the edge cleaner. Check out the Ribbon Frame Tutorial over at Waltzing Mouse's blog. I used my Basic Grey notch cutting tool for the first time. You have to use a lot of pressure to get it to work but it really came in handy for this frame.

Inspiration Challenge Card

Here is a card I did for a Inspiration challenge at SCS. This challenge was to make a card inspired by Fritz and Floyd china. I was inspired by an egg plate with a watercolor plaid design and a bunny on it. I used my blender pen and ink pads to watercolor the bunny from the SU set Bunny Buddies. I machine stitched the layers together and added a tag with a computer greeting "Easter Blessings." I also used dimensionals again. Dimensionals really give card a professional look. I don't know why I waited so long to use them. Green and purple are my favorite colors and I was glad to get to use them in this card.

Thursday, March 12, 2009

Cool Cat Card

This stamp is from SUs Cool Cat stamp set. I have many friends that love cats so I decided to get a head start on birthday cards for them. This one is also for a color challenge at SCS. This was my first time to use my Nestabilities for a mask to sponging the center of the sentiment. I like the way it looks and how easy it is so I will be doing it a lot more. The dp is by MAMBI and come is monchromatic packages. I bought the black and a package of the red. The solids are Rose Red, Always Artichoke, black and white. I used some Swarovski crystals for the eyes and some sheer swirl ribbon to finish it off.

Pink Chocolate Kiwis Color Challenge Card

I decided to make a get well/encouraging card for this challenge. The Time Well Spent set is new to me even though it is retired. I water colored the little butterfly with ink. I used Pink Passion, Kiwi Kiss and Chocolate Chip ink and paper. The sentiment is a computer font. The dp is by KI Memories and is actually a Christmas paper but it went with the colors I needed. I used my Cuttlebug to emboss the background and cut the Top Note die and Nestabilities. I added a few Prima flowers with a brad and finally used the big bite my son gave me for Christmas. I love it. It is much easier to use than the Cropadile and more versatile.

Easter Card for Card Sketch Challenge

This Easter card was made for last weeks sketch challenge at SCS. I love all the PSX stamps. They may have still been in business if I stamped back then. At least that is what my dh would say. I stamped it with black Stazon and used SU markers to color it. The patterned paper is Bo Bunny. The cardstock is certainly celery and summer sun. I used my new MS border punch and Prima flowers and Swarovski crystals to embellish it.

The stamp for this card is by Whipper Snapper designs. I am really starting to be partial to these whimsical stamps. I used a blender pen and ink pads to color the image. It gives a much more soft look than SU or Copic markers. The sentiment is a computer font from this software I bought for a deal on Ebay. It is by Creative Memories and called Heritage, Vintage and Retro. It has some great fonts and I got it new for $5.00! The printed paper is Paper Adventures. The Card Stock Certainly celery and ballet blue. The ribbon tag die is a Spellbinders die. And I used a Fiskars punch for the border.
